AccidentallyAbroad is a personal blog about expat life in Vietnam. We share what worked for us, what didn’t, and what we wish someone had told us. None of it is professional advice.
Not legal or immigration advice
Visa rules, residence registration, work permits, and tax residency in Vietnam change regularly and depend on your specific passport, family situation, and timing. We describe what we’ve done. We don’t know your situation. If the consequences of getting it wrong are serious for you, hire a Vietnamese immigration lawyer. They cost less than the flight you’d need to leave on if it goes sideways.
Not medical advice
We mention specific clinics and hospitals because we’ve used them. That’s the entire qualification. If you’re weighing actual medical decisions, talk to an actual doctor.
Not financial or tax advice
We talk about banking, currency conversion, and the cost of living. We are not accountants, financial advisors, or tax professionals. US citizens and other tax residents have specific filing obligations that don’t go away when you move abroad. Talk to a CPA or tax professional familiar with expat tax.
Cost numbers
Numbers in posts and the guide reflect what we paid at the time of writing. Vietnam moves fast. Inflation, exchange rates, and local market shifts all apply. Use our numbers as a baseline, not a guarantee.
